Senior Leadership Team have recently signed off a new policy for the management
and handling of cash across the council. The policy can be found using
the link below.
relevant Managers and Staff should read the policy and ensure it is complied
with at all times. Furthermore, all staff involved in handling cash and/or
cheques and banking should be made aware of the requirements of and have access
to the policy. Failure to adhere to the policy could lead to disciplinary action for non-compliance.
Council will be moving towards electronic only methods of collecting income in
the future, so these procedures are foreseen to be applicable for an interim
period whilst we still accept cash and cheque payments. It is anticipated that
some services will be fully “cashless” by April 2020 with a view of moving all
services to "cashless" by April 2021. If there is an impact for your service with
move to being “cashless” then please contact Steve Rose, Exchequer Manager, as
