Summary

With schools planning a phased return over the coming weeks and months, educational settings face significant challenges ensuring social distancing measures and COVID-19 management strategies are in place.

Main News Story

Our aim is to support Primary schools across Somerset to deliver outdoor learning for up to half the school day, allowing them to reduce class sizes forming ‘bubbles’, each having half the day outside and then swapping with their classmates at lunch time. Individual schools will choose how they are implementing social distancing and may adopt different models, nevertheless outdoor learning is one tool to increase teaching spaces. We have designed and created online training which enables teaching assistants to lead half day outdoor learning sessions for ‘bubbles of young people’. These will include introductory training on health and safety and leading ‘bubbles’ outside, along with overviews of daily activities.

The Curriculum and training is *FREE OF CHARGE* with the material created and donated by a number of partner organisations.

The first sessions will be on outdoor learning top tips and resources for teaching assistants, with the aim of reducing the pressure on indoor space in the coming weeks and months.

The first sessions will take place on the 27th and 28th May at 4pm via Microsoft Teams. To book a place, please click on the links below:

This session is designed to support and enable Teaching Assistants to lead basic low risk outdoor activities in their school grounds for a small ‘bubble’ of young people.
