Our aim is to support Primary schools across
Somerset to deliver outdoor learning for up to half the school day, allowing
them to reduce class sizes forming ‘bubbles’, each having half the day
outside and then swapping with their classmates at lunch time. Individual
schools will choose how they are implementing social distancing and may adopt
different models, nevertheless outdoor learning is one tool to increase
teaching spaces. We have designed and created online training which enables
teaching assistants to lead half day outdoor learning sessions for ‘bubbles of
young people’. These will include introductory training on health and safety
and leading ‘bubbles’ outside, along with overviews of daily activities.
Curriculum and training is *FREE OF CHARGE* with the material created
and donated by a number of partner organisations.

assistants, with the aim of reducing the pressure on indoor space in the coming
weeks and months.

Somerset Outdoor Curriculum will support each school with an outdoor learning
mentor, and online training for TA’s and Bubble leaders, to enable staff to be
