Summary

Following a number of ransomwareemails being sent to School email addresses, please remember to be careful when opening emails from unknown senders.

Main News Story

The School's IT Team has become aware of an increase in Ransomware emails being sent to school Staff. Following a number of emails being sent to school email addresses, please remember to be careful when opening emails AND attachments from unknown senders. There have been several examples in the past couple of days where staff have received emails where the content is not related to their role. Attackers have been known to be using names, teams or companies you may recognise as the sender address, so despite looking authentic it can still be dangerous.

If you are unsure about any emails you have received, even from known senders, please contact the ICT Service Desk (icthelpdesk@educ.somerset.gov.uk)  in the first instance and do not open the email or attachments.
