Since March, tutors have continued to deliver online individual and small group lessons which were
very successful over the summer term. We have also developed resources for
schools to access via our website https://www.somerset.org.uk/sites/somersetmusic/Pages/Welcome.aspx
and YouTube channels have been created to continue singing at home for EYFS,
Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
In its recent publication the DfE has
stated that all pupils should have access to a quality arts education, and we want
to ensure that music plays an important part in the curriculum recovery. Music
has so many benefits at a time when wellbeing is at the forefront of education
as pupils return to school. Music builds confidence, enriches lives, is a means
of expression and creates a community.
We continue to work with the latest
research available and guidance from the DfE, DCMS and Music Mark as we prepare
for our return to face to face teaching. We are in contact with our schools to
ensure we can return safely and, where we cannot deliver instrumental WCET
tuition, we have prepared an alternative curriculum for tutors to deliver.
We look forward to the term ahead which
comes with its challenges, but we look forward to creating music with you once
again. If you would like to discuss any
of our services please do not hesitate to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
