Title

SSE Property & Grounds: Cold Weather Advice during February Half Term

Thumbnail

Summary

In previous years we have experienced severe weather over the holiday period and we attended numerous instances of frozen or burst pipes. The Met Office have issued a Severe Weather Warning up to Friday 12th February but are unsure how this will develop over the course of the weekend and into next week (half term).

Main News Story

Detailed below is some practical advice which may help prevent an incident at your property.

If you are likely to be leaving your property empty over the half term holiday please ensure you leave sufficient heat on to prevent the pipes from freezing. Most of the heating systems will have a frost setting and can be left on holiday mode or set on automatic.

Ensure outside taps, external sinks and water fountains are isolated and drained. Many of you may have additional external sinks this year to consider as a result of Covid-19

Be especially careful with Elliott and other temporary buildings with the services running under the unit as these can be very susceptible if exposed to cold temperatures below an unheated building.

The resultant damage from burst pipes and leaks can be costly to repair and the inconvenience and disruption to service is often the most difficult thing to manage.

Our Repairline and out of hours service will be operating as normal via the web page and by phone to 07768 801626 for Priority 1 & 2 calls

Enjoy your well earned break, stay warm and safe.
