Welcome to Morpurgo Class, where we are lucky to have a small group of just 20 children. This means that we can use the school mini bus to extend our learning into the community and beyond. Since starting school, we have already been on a local field trip, where we have found out about how ammonite fossils are formed and taken part in an archaeological dig. We made some amazing discoveries! We also made the most of the seasonal harvest and picked apples and blackberries, which we used to make tasty crumbles when we got back to school. Later in the term we will be visiting the 1610 gym at The King Alfred School, where we will be taking part in fitness workshops in the Prama studio. We will also be visiting the Dancefit dance studio, where we will be working with Miss Lilly to learn Street Dance and dance fit skills.
This term we are especially looking forward to finding out about Africa, in particular, the plight of the Black Rhino, as we take part in a whole school project. As part of this we will be visiting Noah's Ark Zoo, to see the rhinos and find out more. This links in with our work in PSHCE, where we will be thinking about our rights and responsibilities, as we consider what we can do to look after our environment.
We heartily encourage all children in Morpurgo class to take part in the Young Leader's Challenge and work towards gaining a Young Leader's badge. For this, we ask the children to put in that extra effort to either represent the school in school sports, help out at school events and other activities or offer themselves to help in ways which are above and beyond normal expectations.
We also encourage all of our pupils to write regularly, at home, in their WOW (Wonder of Writing) books. We would love to see a range of writing for different purposes. We have already enjoyed some great jokes and been taught some phrases in Welsh.
