Parent Questionnaires

Thank you to all of you who responded to our School Feedback and Lunch Questionnaires. Your responses have been shared with staff and the Governing Body and we will look into ways to improve aspects of school life as a result.

In total we had 33 responses for our lunch survey. 21 were broadly positive, 6 were broadly negative and 6 non-committal. Most negative comments were about particular ingredients or the quality of food on offer. Some parents wanted traditional home-cooked style meals. However 21 parents were in favour of a sandwich or wrap option with an additional 7 saying they needed more information. We will be exploring options for a new catering company with changes being brought in from September 2020.

We had 37 responses to our school survey and we were pleased to have received so many positive and supportive comments. 36 out of 37 parents would recommend our School to other parents. Areas where we can immediately improve include sharing our plans. To help you understand what your children will be learning each term, you would have been sent an overview of the terms' topic via the Catch Up last week. These overviews are also on display in every classroom and are published on our website.

Communication in any organisation can be a challenge and we use our website, Parentpay and email to communicate events and extra-curricular activities to you. We endeavour to give at least 2 weeks notice (wherever possible) to ensure you have the opportunity to respond in a timely manner. We moved away from any paper at the beginning of the year in a move to be more sustainable. Please do speak to Ms Coles in the office if you find accessing our online information difficult.

Finally, if you have concerns regarding your child it is very important to us that we deal with them swiftly and appropriately. The Class Teacher is the first step to achieving this. A quick conversation or a phone call can often result in things being dealt with immediately. If there is a need for further discussion, then an appointment can be made with me to bring about a mutually acceptable resolution.

As a school, we constantly review our procedures and where appropriate revise the way we do things. I firmly believe that the most successful schools are those where the parents and staff work in partnership to provide the best all round education for the children in their care. I look forward to developing strong and effective partnerships with you as parents and carers throughout 2020.

Best Wishes

Mrs C Halstead

Lunches & ParentPay

Please ensure that all lunch orders are placed (and paid for if applicable) on ParentPay before midnight on Sunday 19th January 2020 for at least the week commencing Monday 3rd February 2020.

Please ensure that ALL ParentPay balances are cleared ASAP as failure to do so will affect future bookings. If you are experiencing difficulties in doing so, please contact Ms Coles in the office.

Bottle Tops

Hummingbird Care Home are no longer collecting milk bottle tops. We have a large collection in Reception if anyone knows of a worthwhile cause that these could help and can deliver them on our behalf. Please see Ms Coles in the School office to discuss this. If we do not find another cause, we shall no longer be collecting them. Thank you to all of the people that have donated milk bottles over the past years.

Churchstanton Vacancy

We are currently recruiting for a full time and part time Teaching Assistant. If you or someone you know may be interested, you can view the job at: http://dasjobs.co.uk/job/teaching-assistant-286/

URGENT Football Parent Volunteer

We are delighted that we hit minimum numbers for the Premier Sports Football sessions to run this term. As per previously, we do require a parent helper to assist in walking the children to the School field. Without this, we are unable to run the group. Please see Ms Coles in the School Office if you are able to help – this could be shared on a week by week basis by different parents.

Ukulele Lessons

We are delighted to be able to pass on the details for the highly recommended Harrison Marsh. He is available for private ukulele lessons. Please contact him direct on harrisonmarsh07@gmail.com or visit his website - www.harrisonmarsh.co.uk. His rates are £16.00 per child for a 1:1 (30 minute lesson) or groups of 2 (£9 per student) or groups of 3 (£7 per student)

Toaster Appeal

Our staffroom toaster has broken. If you do have a spare one at home, we would be delighted to have this to reinforce our sustainable ethos of recycling.

Bags2school

We shall be holding our next collection for Bags2school on Wednesday 4th March 2020 with a second on Wednesday 24th June 2020 organised by the PTA. Look out for bags in your child's book bag. This helps raise much needed funds for the school.

PTA Note

Hi Everyone,

I know that summer probably feels very far away but we are starting to think about this year's Summer Fete which will be on Saturday 20th June 2020. The fete is one of the highlights of the school calendar & raises a large amount of the PTA funds that will go towards the children's enrichment activities.

I am looking to put a team together to help with the behind the scenes arrangements as well as looking for volunteers on the day. In particular, we need a new team to take on the dog show section of the fete.

Any new ideas or offers to run a stall would be fantastic too.

I am planning an initial Summer Fete meeting on Monday 3rd February 2020 at 7pm at the York Inn.

If you feel you could help with any of the arrangements we would love to see you or, if you can't make it, but are able to help then please send me a message.

This is great way to get to know other families & we would love to have your involvement

Rosie
