At Churchstanton Primary school we value the social, cognitive, emotional and physical importance that physical education and sports have to offer. Our school has adopted Real PE's child-centred approach to learning that aims to include, challenge and support every child and to give them the opportunity to achieve. We are committed to the development of agility, balance and coordination and healthy competition that is taught through cooperative learning experiences in a fun, collaborative environment. Our aim is to ensure all our children develop a positive attitude towards their physical health and that the key skills they learn are carried forward throughout their lives.

Churchstanton Primary School Sports Funding 2017-2019
Churchstanton Primary School received £16,650 for the academic year 2017-2018, and £16,651 for the academic year 2018-2019.
This has been used for:
· Somerset Activity and Sports Partnership (SASP) (buy-in) for festival and tournaments
· School Sports Co-ordinator - for advice and support
· Hire of Sports Hall (Wellington Sports Centre)
· Supply cover for PE Coordinator to attend training and planning time.
· Subsiding the Kenpo / Taekwondo Club
· Purchase of sports equipment and new netball kit & bibs
· Cost of transport to festivals and swimming
· To buy into the Golden Mile Scheme and gain access to the Golden Mile website
· Premier Sport provision for after school clubs
· Real P E and Real Gymnastics training – supporting staff CPD
· Purchase of Real PE online assessment package and online resources (JASMINE)
· Buy into the 'Chance to Shine' programme run by Somerset Cricket Club
· Subsiding Forest School provision (both in school & an after school activity)
· Subsiding Lunchtime Supervisors to promote active playtimes & lunchtimes
Some funds have been carried forward to part fund the development of the outdoor area for Hedgehog class
· All children in Key stage 2 have an opportunity to achieve the required level of swimming.
· The Golden Mile Scheme enables all children to patriciate in a safe, simple and measureable physical activity. Each child's progress is tracked, recorded and celebrated.
· The children have an opportunity to attend festivals and tournament, enabling them to work alongside and complete against other schools.
· To provide equipment & kit for lessons and extra-curricular activities.
· CPD training - to increase confidence, knowledge and skills of staff in teaching PE and sport.
· All children take part in forest school sessions within school. There is also the provision of an extra-curricular forest school club.
· Lunchtime Supervisors promote and encourage active playtimes & lunchtimes. Support and guidance given to Year 6 Young Leaders when they are carrying out their 'Active kids run by kids' lunchtime activity club.
· Opportunities for the children to attend after school extra-curricular clubs through the school year – netball, kenpo, Born to move, multi ball skills, forest school & country dancing.
· Pupil's participation in active extra-curriculum clubs, in the autumn term 60% of our children took part.
