Welcome to Hinton St George Church of England First School, which is a Voluntary Controlled School in the Diocese of Bath and Wells. We are a dynamic, progressive Church of England First School located in the beautiful village of Hinton St George. The school caters for children aged between 4 and 9 and serves a community of families covering the rural parishes of Hinton St George, Dinnington and Lopen.
The school enjoys a rural setting with all of our classes based in the original and recently renovated Victorian school building. The grounds to the rear of the school include a well-stocked and fun playground along with a newly created outdoor learning space for our early year’s provision. We have also recently gone through a major redecoration program throughout the school including new flooring and general improvements to the school environment – all designed to provide the learning environment our children deserve.
The staff and governors aim to provide a happy, caring and well-organised environment in which each child feels secure and valued as an individual. We are fortunate to enjoy a high staff to pupil ratio where teaching and non-teaching staff all work together to create relaxed and pleasant surroundings. All of our children are actively encouraged to realise their full potential and to fulfil our school motto to be “the best that we can be”.
Achievement at all levels throughout the curriculum is valued and recognised; good behaviour, aspiration, high standards and a sense of personal and social responsibility are clearly promoted and expected.  We enjoy strong links with our local community and families and this is demonstrated by our active and generous PFA who tirelessly raise funds for improving the school offering.
We look forward to showing you our school and the high standards of work, behaviour and commitment which we achieve.  Please contact the school office on 01460 72653 or by email  at Hintonstgeorge@educ.somerset.gov.uk to arrange a visit.
