News from Ali Holley:
After our annual PFA AGM, I am pleased to confirm that I have taken on the role as Chair of the PFA with Louise Traynor taking on the position as Secretary and Rachel Moon continuing in her role as Treasurer.  Can I take this opportunity to thank Nathan Wilkinson and Gilly Jaffé on behalf of the PFA for all they have done over the past year as Chair and Secretary and I am really pleased they have agreed to continue as Members.  I would also like to say farewell to Ingrid Godfrey and Toni Burrows who have both stood down after several years on the Committee and to thank them for all their help and contributions over this time. 
A big thank you also to all Committee Members and Parents who have helped at any of our fundraising events in the last year. It has made a great difference to the success of these events, to our school and most importantly to our children.  
The date of our next meeting is 12th June in the school hall 7.00pm.
 
The Parents & Friends Association (PFA) is a registered charity responsible for raising money for the school children.  All parents automatically become members of the Association when their child/children join the school. All funds which are raised are spent on improving equipment and also resources to enhance the children’s education and the facilities in school.
Last year, for instance, the PFA were able to support the annual trip to the pantomime, various class trips and provide funds for the After School Enrichment Programme, which offers the children a wide variety of clubs, including art and craft skills, eco club and fantastic sporting activities.  Funds are raised in a number of ways, but we try to ensure that they are generally events which are fun for both parents and children alike. To name but a few, we have had Quiz Nights, Christmas Fairs, and also our annual ‘Slay the Dragon’ 10km cross country run.
The PFA Committee meets to discuss and plan future events. We are always looking for new and exciting ways to help the school, so would be delighted if any new parents who may have fund raising ideas or just want to help, could join us at our open meetings. These meetings are normally held at Hinton St George First School once every half term on a weekday evening.

Hinton St George Parents & Friends Association have achieved their target of raising £500 to improve resources at Hinton St George First School. A total of £507.03 has been raised by the PFA with the help of fundraising site Easyfundraising, which helps raise money through online shopping to provide and sustain extra-curricular activities for the children and helps buy learning resources.
Supporters of the PFA have raised money over the last 15 months by using the site to access over 3,000 high street retailers to automatically generate a free donation for the school’s cause.  The PFA  are delighted with the support from Easyfundraising as it is a simple and effective way to raise money.  "It’s a great way for people to shop and help us at the same time and we look forward to using it to help us reach our next goal. Can you help us reach our next goal?”
