AMV 2016 is the statutory document for community and voluntary controlled schools in Somerset. Church of England Voluntary Aided schools also follow AMV, but with additional guidance on the study of Christianity (contact the Diocese of Bath & Wells schools advisers for more details). Roman Catholic voluntary aided schools have their own guidance but recommend AMV as a useful resource.
The syllabus came into force in September 2016. It contains:
- revised assessment documents based around an "essential core" of the most important beliefs of each faith.
- A fresh approach to teaching Religious Education that embodies the thinking behind the new National Curriculum.
- New lesson plans that exemplify this new approach.
