Our topic for this term is Earth and Space.

We have been learning about the solar system; finding out about different scientific theories from  great thinkers and also investigating how we get day and night at different times across the world.

In English, we have written non-chronological reports about our own 'Hexapods' (creatures from Pandora).  In our writing, we have focussed on using effective description, technical vocabulary and cohesive devices to link sentences.

Our topic for the whole of this term is 'Our Amazing Earth'.  We will be studying mountains, volcanoes and earthquakes aswell as studying plants and animals in Science.

Autumn Term 2019
This term our topic is the Ancient Greeks.
We have had two professional badminton coaches teaching us how to play badminton this term.  It was great fun and we learned a lot in just a few weeks.
Laudato Si Day at Prior Park.

On Wednesday 3rd October, Griffin Class spent the day at Prior Park celebrating the Feast of St Francis of Assisi with other Catholic Primary Schools.  We had a wonderful time exploring the beautiful natural environment at Prior Park, using parts of nature to make boats amongst other activities.  To finish, we had a Prayer Service where we reflected on our role in caring for our 'Common home'.

In Art, we are studying the work of Henri Rousseau and creating our own pastel drawings of plants.henri rousseau.jpg

In Chaplaincy, we have been talking about the many ways in which we can pray.  We created some posters to share our understanding.

In Literacy, we will be looking at the Greek myths and legends

This week, Zoolab came to visit each class. We got to find out about and touch animals from different habitats and find out how they move.

Our topic for the Spring Term is Our Local Area

This is a Lottery Funded Project called "Trade Roots" which teaches children about their local area.

Jacqui (from the project) came to school to teach us about the local area. We made a timeline of the local area dating back to The Bronze Age.

 Writhlington Colliery

Next week, we are off to Radstock Museum to find out in our more detail about local area.  We also have Bryn, a former Miner, coming to share his experiences with us.

In Numeracy, we are working on Fractions, Decimals and Percentages.

In Literacy, our Talk 4 Writing project is Persuasive Writing.  We are writing letters to Robin, persuading him to change his outfit.
